This is Option 2: 348-105608 Communications Kit, Expedite Workstation Software For Windows XP, Includes OEM workstation software, Communications cable/device and additional software for communications. 

Use this kit to allow you to run the original Expedite Workstation Software on a Windows XP computer. 

There are three different options that are available for connecting an 8909 Expedite to a PC:

Option 1: Part number: 348-100247 Use the original Expedite Workstation Software running on a Win 98 PC.  This is the lowest cost option but Win 98 is slow and new computers cannot run Win 98. You must have a Windows 98 computer for this option to work. 

Option 2: Part number: 348-105608 Use the original Expedite Workstation Software running on a Win XP PC. This requires a communications program to get the workstation software to communicate with the Win XP PC. This is a moderate priced option. It does require that you have a Windows XP computer with one 9 pin Com port installed in the PC.

Option 3: Part number: 348-104433 Use a completely different software to communicate with the 8909 Expedite. This different software is called Validate XP. This PC can use windows XP, Windows 7,8,10 all in 32bit versions of the operating system. This is the costliest solution. If you purchased options 1 or 2 the flash drive that is included has a copy of this Validate XP software. If you have a Windows XP or Windows 7 computer, you can install the Validate XP software as a trial. It will be fully functional however it has a 30-day limit of use.
