Synthesizing Oligos Just Got Faster

Introducing Biolyticʻs Dr. Oligo 768XLc, the latest innovation in high throughput oligo synthesis. The Dr. Oligo 768XLc has been designed for quality, performance, and speed. The cycle time for the Dr. Oligo 768XLc is as fast as 6 minutes and 40 seconds for a single 384-well plate, and 9 minutes and 45 seconds for two 384-well plates making the Dr. Oligo 768XLc our fastest high throughput oligo synthesizer yet.*

Faster

The Dr. Oligo 768XLc features our patent pending nozzle system, dispensing 16 or more nozzles simultaneously with an accuracy down to 2 ul**. Additionally, the Dr. Oligo 768XLc comes with a new maximum of 25 total reagents and up to 15 special reagents, allowing users to quickly synthesize 768 oligos in as low as 3 hours***.

Efficient Reactions

Biolytic's novel patent pending system results in the highest possible chemical reaction efficiency using the minimum amount of reagents across our entire line of Dr. Oligo XLc instruments. Our system overcomes chemistry over consumption and reaction inconsistencies that are a result of well to well flow rate variability and other issues typical in high throughput synthesis media.

Regulatory

Optional Installation Qualification (IQ) / Operational Qualification (OQ) are available on all Dr. Oligo 768XLc instrumentation. We provide documentation that supports regulatory requirements and industry standards for instrument compliance required by production facilities. Installation Qualification (IQ) provides documented evidence and verification that the instrument has been delivered and installed according to manufacturer’s specifications. Operational Qualification (OQ) provides documented verification that the instrument subsystems are operating as designed and verifies that the functionality of an instrument meets the manufacturer’s operational specifications.

Speed

The Dr. Oligo 768XLc is designed to be operated in both R&D and Production facilities where speed and precision is required. This is one of our fastest Dr. Oligos yet and comes with fully tested protocols and an initial set of guaranteed to work synthesis media. The single dispense configuration cycle times are approximately:

Single 384-well plate*

6 minutes and 40 seconds

Two 384-well plates*

9 minutes and 45 seconds

The total run time to synthesize 768 oligos is as quick as 2 hours and 13 minutes for one 384-well plate, and 3 hours and 15 minutes for two 384-well plates***, making the Dr. Oligo 768XLc the most efficient time-saving high throughput oligo synthesizer yet.

Efficiency

The Dr. Oligo 768XLc comes with the ultimate performance and synthesis efficiency. Our novel patent pending nozzle and extremely efficient reagent reaction system coupled with the following features greatly increases the speed and efficiency of the Dr. Oligo 768XLc.

  • Extremely Efficient Mixing of all reagents dispensed into each well using our patent pending system. The entire volume of reagent delivered to each reaction well is thoroughly mixed with the synthesis media resulting in optimal use of all reagent delivered
  • Deliver only the volume of each reagent needed to obtain the optimal molar excess for achieving near 100% reaction efficiency
  • Custom Biolytic valves provide faster, more consistent response times and fill with less volume thus reducing waste
  • Dispense 16 or more nozzle simultaneously with an accurate reagent dispensing down to 2 ul**
  • Novel Dispense nozzles maintain desired delivery volumes and reduce the chance of reagents dripping and drying out
  • Automatic nozzle washing
  • Intelligent Auto Reprime of Amidite Nozzles
  • Improved chamber design resulting in more precise control of reagents flow through reaction wells
  • Two smaller pressure chambers (one for each 384-well plate) reduces gas consumption
  • High speed closed loop motion system

Maintainability

With the Dr. Oligo 768XLc, we wanted to simplify the gas system layout. The new ergonomic design physically separates the purge, drain and pneumatic plumbing from the bottle system, which enables easy access to each system individually resulting in simpler troubleshooting and repairs. Additionally, we have eliminated the Y-motion and the need for all mechanical alignments in the motion system. These improvements result in lower failure opportunity, thus decreasing maintenance requirements.

Secure Bottle Containment System

Our new bottle containment system puts users safety first with the following safety features:

  • Protect users against spills and breakage
  • Innovative sealed catch tray drains leaks directly to waste
  • Isolated the bottles behind a transparent door

Reduced Footprint

We want to create instruments that are more ergonomical, The XLc allows more flexibility and takes up less space in a lab, a 14% reduction in volume compare to our original Dr. Oligo 768 model. Please see dimensions - located in the Specifications section.

Ease of Use

With our improved ergonomic design, we have implemented a more accessible way for users to monitor plates and other instrument features.

  • Side-by-side Slider Plate Windows:
The Dr. Oligo 768XLc nozzle plate windows are now located side-by-side. This reconfiguration allows users to oversee both reaction plates at the same time.

  • LED Backlighting:
The chemically safe LED light helps to increase visibility and comfort on the eyes. By using back-lighting in the bottle compartment, nozzle plate, and collection chamber, users are easily able to monitor reagent levels and ensure that their instrument is always prepared for synthesis.

Production Ready Software

Understanding how your instruments' condition is important. That is why the Dr. Oligo 768XLc comes with our most advanced software yet, with features that provide critical information about your instrument.

  • Security and Encryption:

The software offers encrypted communication, which increases system uptime and improves the overall quality of each synthesis.

  • Hardware Monitoring System:

Our new feature keeps operators updated on the status of instrument hardware, including the Biolytic Boards and motor. The system works in conjunction with our control boards to prompt users to take action in the event of hardware failure.

Powerful Hardware

Our Biolytic Control Board is designed in-house by our Biolytic Team specifically for the Dr. Oligo Synthesizer line. Our driverless Control Board consist of 32 outputs and 8 inputs, ensuring proper dispensing of as little as 2 ul**.

  • Antistatic:

Ensures boards are not affected by static electricity that can build up and disrupt delivery.

  • Shockproof:

Controls movement of the instrument, making sure the delivery of reagents is not affected during synthesis.

  • On-Board Timing:

Guarantees reliability by executing the exact timing required by delivery.

  • Valve Short Protection:

If a valve shorts electrically, the board shuts down that driver and protects itself, thus eliminating the need to replace a board.

  • Real-Time Valve Monitoring:

Prior to and during synthesis, the control boards monitor electrical integrity of all instrument valves. If any valve is in poor condition, the run will immediately pause and allow an operator to resolve the issue.
