Many oligo and peptide synthesizers use valve blocks rather than individual valves.
The valve block design is a very efficient way to design a reagent delivery
system that has low dead volume however when one valve fails, the entire valve block
must be replaced. The valve blocks have quite a few parts that do not typically
go bad.
We rebuild valve blocks by replacing the parts that can wear out such as diaphragms,
seals, O-Rings, and, if needed, the flow manifold. This can save the customer a
considerable amount of money over purchasing new valve blocks. Please see our catalog
for the valve block that is specific to your instrument
When ordering the valve block, one should have someone familiar enough with the
instrument to identify remove and reinstall the suspect valve block. If you are
unsure, contact
technical support; we are always here to help.

Valve Block Services
Failure Analysis
We perform a bench test for solenoid operation, diaphragm integrity, vacuum leaks,
cross port leakage and external leakage. We provide a written report, and recommend
a course of action.
Individual Port Repair
We repair only the port(s) which have failed the inspection. If damage is limited
to one or two ports, this is the most economical alternative to a complete rebuild.
However because of the nature of the valve blocks, a contaminated vacuum system
will require that the entire block is disassembled cleaned, reassembled and tested.
If this is the case it is most cost effective to have the valve block completely
rebuilt.
Vacuum System Cleaning
We remove the vacuum manifold and all solenoids, thoroughly clean of all contaminants,
replace O-rings as needed, reassemble and test. This is ideal for those blocks which
become contaminated as a result of another block failing.
Complete Rebuild
We dismantle, clean and rebuild the entire valve block. We replace all O-Rings,
Seals and diaphragms. We precision drill the flow paths so that they are the original
diameter. We polish the sealing surface of each port. We reassemble the valve block
and test it for vacuum integrity, pressure integrity, cross port leaks, external
leaks, flow rates and solenoid response.
Reconditioned Exchange Blocks
We can ship in-stock reconditioned blocks for delivery next day for those who need
fast turn-around. Reconditioning is the same as a complete rebuild. You must return
your defective valve block to us in tact with all parts. Most popular valve blocks
are in stock however it is possible that availability is limited - please call or
email us to be sure we have the valve block you need.
Spare Blocks
If you have spare blocks that are damaged, send them to us. We will repair them
and put them on our shelf in your name. When you need a block call us with a PO.
We will invoice you when we ship.
Flow Manifolds
Part of the rebuild includes re-surfacing and cleaning the flow manifold, however
if the flow manifold is cracked or non-usable it must be replaced. The cost to replace
the manifold is additional to the cost of the rebuild.
Flow Manifold Material
If your manifold needs replacing or if you just want an improved manifold we offer
manifolds made of better material than the original manifold material. Use of this
new material over the last 5 years has proven its improved performance and reliability.

Warranty
Repairs are warranted as parts and labor for 60 days; the warranty applies to the
parts replaced and the work actually performed. For reconditioned blocks the warranty
extends to the entire block and all the components.
