Recycling

Overall Program

Biolytic Lab Performance, Inc. has a comprehensive waste reduction and diversion program. We recycle glass, metal, plastic, cardboard and electronic scrap.

Material Collected

Here at Biolytic the concentration of our recycling is aluminum, we collect in both our break rooms and in our manufacturing facility. Biolytics break rooms have designated bins that collect aseptic containers, aluminum and tins cans, aluminum foil, glass bottles and jars, juice/milk cartons, and plastic #1 PETE, #2 HDPE bottles and plastic #3-7 bottles.

In manufacturing, when an item is cut out or bits of metal are left over from casting that becomes scrap.

All of our shipping boxes are made of 65% - 100% recycled cardboard. As well as using recycled cardboard we also collect all received cardboard, left over boxes and packaging.

Collections

After the recyclable materials are placed in the recycling bin, employees collect the material.

The bins containing bottles and cans are emptied bimonthly and are brought to our local recycling center TOMRA.

Manufacturing scrap metal is collected, organized and brought to TOMRA every three months.

When Biolytics warehouse has accumulated enough cardboard employees bundle and take it to our local paper recycling center International Paper.

Both TOMRA and International Paper are less than 1 mile away from Biolytics front door making our carbon footprint even smaller.

Processing

After being separated and flattened, tin cans, aluminum cans, and aluminum scrap are placed in the TOMRA scrap metal yard. Aluminum is the most economically efficient material to recycle because of the expense and energy consumption used to make aluminum cans. Over 90% of all aluminum cans bought in California are recycled. In as little as 6 weeks, the recycled aluminum products are then sent back to the shops ready to be used again.

International Paper sorts the cardboard, pulps it, removes contaminants and then it’s sent off to be made into new recycled cardboard. Recycling a single ton of corrugated cardboard saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 462 gallons of oil and approximately 3 cubic yards of space in a landfill according to PaperTrail.com.

Benefit

Both TOMRA and International Paper pay the standard rates for aluminum and cardboard. The proceeds Biolytic collects from all recycled products goes directly to the Tri-City Animal Shelter here in Fremont, California.

Exchange

Biolytic created the exchange program to give an opportunity to save money on your instrument service by making many instruments and parts available for an exchange. We send you a rebuilt and tested instrument or part and you send your defective item back to us.

Biolytic’s exchange program offers great deals on returned, used or refurbished products that are in good condition but do not meet the Biolytic rigorous standards as “new”. Any product sold on Exchange goes through a demanding test and verification process of physical and functional conditions.

Our Exchange program includes the process of disassembly and recovery at the module level and, eventually, at the component level. If needed it generally requires the repair or replacement of worn out or obsolete components. Parts subject to degradation affecting the performance or the expected life of the instrument are replaced.

With an exchange item you must return your old item complete with all components. In addition, the defective item you send us must only have damage that is a result of normal use. Do not disassemble the item. Do not attempt to fix the item. Do not disassemble and then reassemble the item. If you do not return your item or you return it missing components, with damage other than normal wear, disassembled, or in any way not reusable, you will be charged as though you purchased a Non-Exchange item. If you do not want to send your old item back to us, you should purchase this same item as non-exchange from us. If the defective item is not returned to us within 2 weeks after we ship the exchange item to you, we will bill you for the new item without exchange. We offer item exchange to keep the price down and to recover high value, reusable parts. If you render the item un-rebuildable or unusable it has no exchange value. Help us to be able to continue to bring you exchange items. This same requirement applies to Exchange Instruments with the addition that the instrument with the options you request from us must match the instrument you send us. If you want one or more options added to the rebuilt instrument that is not on your original instrument, please let us know and we will add those to the quote.

Typically an Exchange Item also comes as a Non-Exchange item. Non-Exchange items may be new or they may be rebuilt to be functionally as new. The Exchange Item is cheaper than the Non-Exchange Item because the customer is not required to return a defective item to us.
